SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8TH BRUNCH

We still need to decide if we want to attend the 10 am or 1 pm seating at HOB for brunch.

Any other ideas?

Blue,

I'll go along with what everyone decides, but 10:00 a.m. would be my choice.

tt - We are planning on having a group brunch on October 8th. Not sure what else, if anything, is going on that day.

Some people will be in earlier & some are staying later. (I'm going in on Friday & leaving on Monday night.)

Everybody is getting there under their own power & booking their own hotels.

They aren't selling tickets for brunch until August or September, but it seems that autumn is convention season & the hotels are pricey. However, the weather should be lovely based on eprof2's weather report.

blue, I'm interested. So count me in for Brunch. I've seen "O" at the Bellagio so Zoomanity should be interesting. It's at the NY-NY hotel.

Who's staying where & when? Who's going to what & when? I'd like to at least talk with y'all there.

Blue whatever else in the way of a show on Saturday night, I think we should all make an effort to get together for lunch, dinner or cocktails at some point on Saturday. What do you think?

Dolores and I will be bringing our travel trailer to LV and staying in it for the three or four days we'll be there. The last time we parked at Sam's Town, a couple of miles away from the strip. We'll be arriving, probably, on Thursday, staying until Tuesday, and then leaving for Cottonwood, Arizona, to take a Saturday train ride up the Verde Canyon. Then, back home. It'll be a very nice ten day trip with our own home on wheels and sleeping in our own bed.

Brunch on Sunday sounds great. From there, we're open to whatever show the group wants to take in. Do you think we'll have a show picked out before Wednesday, October 4th or 5th?

eprof2,

Double check with Blue and Craig. They seem to be voting for zoomanity for Saturday night. If they say yes, then go ahead and book your reservation and put the reservation number here. They will try to seat us together as the reservations come in, so we need a first reference for them to work with.

I posted about the monorail on the last Vegas thread. I'll try & be near NY NY.

Yes, I think getting together for dinner Saturday is a good idea.

Either time for Zoomanity is fine. I guess we need to decide a time soon?

A later brunch might be better if some are going to a late show?

There's another web site that I drop by at (great grammar, eh?). There are about 200 people going to Europe. Talk about herding cats! That's an amazing number!

The internet brings folks together who, otherwise would never meet each other due to age, occupation, location, etc. It can be a good thing.

jamie - I agree that it would be nice for those of us in town to get together for something on Saturday, even if we part ways to see our own shows later.

At this point, Craig doesn't know that he'll be in town in time for a show on Saturday at all.

eprof2 - I don't think we are doing a full group thing for shows on Saturday, unless it's by co-incidence. I'm the one that was thinking about Zumanity or now maybe "O"; not sure what I'm doing yet. Jamie was thinking about the new cirq show based on Beatles songs called "Love." What are you & Dolores interested in seeing?

tt - The brunch isn't at the Hard Rock it's at HOB and there will be more info at the end of August when it gets closer to the time to buy tickets.

jamie - I think 10 am would be my choice, too. That'll be lunch time for those flying in from the central time zone and almost tea time for the easterners. Plus, it will give us more time to enjoy the day together.

If you put Cirque du Soleil into YouTube, it pulls up a lot of clips. It'll give you an idea anyhow. "O" is water based and really excellent. All of what they do is amazing!

Driving around there's no picnic, especially on the strip. It combines the congestion & urgency of NYC with the insanity of Dallas. It'll even be worse with all the conventioneers. But I'll have a car if we need it.

So bummed! My Friday night show has been nixed (WWRY is gone), so now I have to rethink Friday & Saturday. Love, O & Zumanity, but not sure which 2 or which night do which...

Blue, Let me know what you decide for Saturday. I get in too late on Friday night to do anything, but if you want to do lunch, dinner, cocktails or a show on Saturday, let me know.

jamie - This is something I'm interested in seeing, but maybe the group would like to do it on Sunday.

Dolphins & Volcano

Let's definitely shoot for lunch, drinks or something on Saturday.

Blogger Durward Discussion said...

I'm definitely on for the dolphins. Maybe when the group gets bigger we can do the really good thing there. :-)

"A $10,000 facility fee allows guests full access to Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage and includes the services of the facility’s tour guides. Dolphin trainers can be available to teach visitors about one of the world’s most magnificent and graceful creatures. Guests may enjoy the tempting creations of The Mirage’s talented culinary staff for an additional fee of $150 per person for receptions; $185 per person for dinners."

There's a free show at Treasure Island (meant to draw you into the casino, I guess) that is peformed on a loop.

I'm just looking forward to walking through the Venetian, again. We zipped through last time & I was sick so my memories of it are sketchy.

Ah! Just had to go off on the airline. They changed my schedule from afternoon departure from Dallas to a 7 am departure. Same flight number, different time. Hello! Why would you not program your computer system to reschedule a similar flight time????

I saw that somewhere else. It includes http://powerpasscard.com/LasVegas/attractions_all.aspx

Lots of stuff. I'm not up to rollar coasters and stayed at the Luxor the last time I was there.

So for me, it'd be 1 day - Saturday.

If you plan to buy tickets for any of the Cirque D' Solleil shows, it is usually cheaper to buy direct from the venue rather than through the ticketing agencies.

jamie - Are you going to a 7:30 or 10:30 show? Just trying to figure out a good time for everything else.

4:57 AM
Blogger blueINdallas said...

jamie - I'm going to a 7:30 show...I momentarily forgot about the time change. I'm sure I'll be wound up enough after a show, but staying awake until it's time for a show is another story.

Any idea if you want to get together for a late lunch or early dinner?

Eprof2 - When will you & Dolores be in town?

Dolphins on Sunday with the group?

5:10 AM
Blogger Durward Discussion said...

Blue,

I'm with you for a 7:30 show on Saturday. Did you want to go to the same show or just meet for cocktails or dinner before? How about 10:00 a.m. for HOB on Sunday followed by the dolphins or we could do the dolphins in the middle of the day on Saturday?

5:40 AM
Blogger blueINdallas said...

jamie - Don't know what everyone else is doing, but I'm going to LOVE at 7:30 on Saturday. After I saw that special (with that horrid, little Billy Bush), it was still between that and O (they showed clips of both)...but this morning I decided to go to LOVE.
Even the furthest seat is less than 100 feet from the stage; the theater holds a little over 2,000.

If nobody else wants to do dolphins on Sunday, guess we can shoot for Saturday or Monday.
It will help alot when Poobah is back in our wolrd to decide.

9:48 AM
Blogger Durward Discussion said...

Love 7:30 show it is. I'll have to wait until 9/3 to buy the ticket. If you get a reservation number before then, let me know and I'll try to get close to you.

Maybe we can do dinner before the show.

With that much going on on Saturday, Sunday would probably be good for the dolphins.

Blue,

You might put up a new topic giving the idea that anyone who wants can make reservations for the 7:30 Love Show and try to find out how many still plan to go to Vegas.
