SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8TH CHAT & CHEW

A slight change of plans...we are going to meet at a restaurant to be named later for breakfast on Sunday, October 8th. Rather than going to the brunch/show, we're going someplace where we can sit together and talk.

Several of us are meeting for dinner at the Mirage on Saturday, October 7th, if you would like to join us.

Afterward, Jamie & I will be at the 7:30 performance of LOVE if anyone else is interested or wants to meet for drinks later.

Ideas for Sunday?

Blue,

How many do you think will be joining us for dinner? I love the idea of a sit down chat fest for Sunday. Any count on that as yet?

People might want to check with their hotels. They sometimes have small rooms that a group can use for a meal if the numbers are great enough to make it worth their while. Even more privacy.

Okay, Dinner is on at Kokomos at the Mirage at 5:00 p.m. with Love afterwards at 7:30 (And you thought this was for budding politicians).

If you want to join Blue, Me, and I think Tip Toe, please let me know so I know how many to reservations to make.

A head count? That would be like trying to count BBs or little balls of mercury rolling around the floor, but as far as I know... four in Craig's group, you, tt, eprof & Dolores, Bear, Marisa & company?, me...so about a dozen...unless we have some surprise appearances. Not sure what happened to witchy, etc. Rob said he wasn't gonna make it.

Need to check eprof's blog again; looked like something had eaten it on Saturday...maybe the Beta-monster got him.

How many times have I hummed the Beach Boys' "Kokomo" today? Not my favorite song, either.

Blue, I like "Kokomo". Used to dance to it and the other cheesy one "Key Largo" with one of those special someones that make even bad songs sound good. :-)

I presume that count is for brunch. I was thinking about dinner. Kokomo needs a credit card to hold the reservation (not charged until you are there) and I wanted some idea how many to ask for even if we increase or decrease later.

Write me with your hotel. I forgot. webthings@comcast.net

jamie - That early in the day, I wonder if we will even need a reservation for dinner?

How many for dinner? Four, I think.

Bally's.

They want reservations because so many people dine before the shows. I can book immediately. I'll do it for six. We can always back off. Let me know if the count changes beyond that.

Blue,

Ballys where you are staying has a great Sunday Buffet

That would work for any size group as the wait staff will usually allow tables to be put together as necessary.

What do you think?

Whatever everybody else wants to do is fine by me.

I'm sure there's a brunch at every hotel & maybe some would rather do something lighter & order off of a menu. As far as I'm concerned, we could go to a Starbucks & I'd be happy.

Hopefully, everyone will check in over the next couple of weeks.

Any idea on how to get ahold of eprof since his blog has gone AWOL?

I don't have a contact for eprof other than his blog.

Here are all the Las Vegas Buffets

Ballys also has a lighter buffet without the champaign and extravagant goodies. Everyone can look it over and state preferences.

Whether we go light or fancy, I think buffet is the best way to go to please the most people for both food and seating.

jamie - That is a link & some of the reviews are really funny. One guy sounded like he had one of every dessert & only liked one. After the full meal he had, maybe he just wasn't hungry. Reminds me of that Monty Python sketch where the guy says he'll explode if he eats another bite, so he does...and he does.

I'm sure it will all work itself out.

Some of the hotels have Java Coast instead of Starbucks, so in case anyone has a preference for a certain kind of coffee during their trip, here's the Starbucks locator for Vegas.

I went through the whole list and will vote as shown below. Totally willing to go along with the group, but these look good to me.

The Bally's Sterling is an outrageous price but has a great rating and the largest menu 7.7

Of the normally priced $20 - 25

Mandalay Bayside 7.4

What happened to the HOB for Sunday Brunch? I thought that was going to be the "main event" for this group?

I've reserved a table for Saturday night

Restaurant: Kokomos (Mirage)
Date: Sat Oct 07, 2006
Time: 5:00 PM
Party Size: 6
Preference: Non-Smoking

I can alter this at any point up to the day before, but our table is now guaranteed.
