Several of us are meeting for dinner at the Mirage (Kokomo's) on Saturday, October 7th. Please let us know if you would like to join us so the reservation can be increased.
Afterward, Jamie & I will be at the 7:30 performance of LOVE if anyone else is interested or wants to meet for drinks later.
This Vegas info from The Dallas Morning News - Free stuff worth seeing:
The Bellagio fountains water ballet
The Bellagio conservatory & botanical gardens - autumn harvest exhibit begins September 25th.
MIX bar at Mandalay Bay - Free before 10pm ($20-$25 cover after) A $750K chandelier made of 13k pieces of blown glass. The ladies' toilets and mens' urinals overlook the skyline. Kind of an odd selling point, but sounds like the view is good.
The wildlife habitat at the Flamingo hotel/casino - Yes, flamingos included.
The Fremont Street Experience (downtown) - every hour after dark until midnight.
Places (some free, some not) that were suggested to be a bit lackluster:
The view from The Stratosphere $10 (MIX has a closer view of the strip & it's free if you get there early enough).
The Sirens of Treasure Island - free, but it's a 15 minute show meant to lure you into the casino & requires a 20 minute wait to get a decent spot, but no good vantage point from which to see the whole thing. 5:30, 7, 8:30 and 10pm.
Siggy & Roy's Secret Garden tour $12-$15 (but it does includes the dolphin habitat) - The audio tour is voiced by S&G "rambling on about what great conservationists they are...no note of the incident, and it's a bit of a touchy subject when you broach it with the animal handlers."

Here is a guide to The Las Vegas Monorail stations. The Hoffbrauhaus is on the MGM Grand stop which makes it very convenient no matter where everyone is staying.

Just got word that my football game doesn't start until 7pm central on Saturday, so 9pm Vegas time. So, guess I will be free about noonish. (Hope I can catch the last half of the game somewhere.)
blue, there's sports book all over there. If it's college or pro you should be able to find the game in a casino.

Yeah, after I thought about it, my times confused me, too. 7pm central is 5pm pacific, so we will be at dinner. Guess I will just call friends before the show to check the score. Not gonna see this one at all. Oh, well. I wonder if I could go four days without a TV, a newspaper or the net? Now that is something I would NOT put money on if I were you.

It's just a really pretty place & they have cool shops and there's a cheap, little food court if you just want a coffee or snack. Not sure if a person can get seasick on three feet of water, but if it's possible, I'm sure I would so will be avoiding the gondola. Would be happy to stand on a bridge and snap a pic if you want to ride. Now that I have no game to watch, it just frees up more of my day. They never even pick the times until about 2 weeks out & we usually end up w/an 11am or 1pm draw. Not this time, because ABC is carrying it.
Venetian for lunch sounds good. Because of my back, I can't do a lot of strolling but I'm sure they'll have good espresso and lots of pretty things to see.
It will make a good meeting place for a friend who is house sitting in Vegas, then we can trek off and then do dinner with you later.
Let me know our final count for Kokomos by the fourth so that I can adjust the reservation.

Blue, I don't think anyone took your comments about the movie wrong once the initial comments had been amplified a bit. You would think that the group that doesn't want sex educaiton taught in the schools, opposes condom distribution etc. wouldn't be assaulting children with subjects such as homosexuality and abortion. Disgusting!!!

Wow, the weather forecast has changed considerably in a week.
It was daytime 90s, nights 60s. Now it looks like 85 for daytime highs (a dry 85 - yeah!) and upper 50s to lower 50s at night. I guess it's time to think about packing sweaters or jackets.
How many do we need to rez for on Sunday? I have a feeling Craig only rez'd for his 4. Hope we can get tables together.

tt - That's the best thing about cell phones; you don't need a watch to know what time it is and it adjusts to the time zone automatically. I think we should be OK if we rely on our cells and don't try to do time math in our heads. At least I shouldn't do it.
