Wow, ticket prices to Yankee games are 3x the price of tickets to Rangers games, so I guess I will continue to see the Yankees play at The Ballpark In Arlington. (I shall never refer to our beautiful park it by its corporate/slave name.)

As the season gets closer, I think I'm going to break down and go to a Yankees game. It looks pretty easy to get there, but is it safe at night?

It's pretty safe, a little obnoxious but safe. Make sure you're in a good sized group though :)

But we should've seen it coming...

Hey! What happened to Craig's blog? I checked in today to send gossip to Sheila about the DC tv scene but when I went to my bookmark his other site came up. Did he decide he only had time for the "real" site and not his playgroup? But ever since you couldn't post anonymous -- it wasn't as much fun.

Well -- you can tell Sheila ... I think it was Sheila that was the camera women. Steve Doocy is coming to DC! Think Steve got tired of that Faux crap? He is going to WUSA channel 9.

Cherry blossoms are awesome in the east this weekend.

I think the Nats open tomorrow. Having April fool's day land on a Sunday isn't too much fun.

it was a joke about steve doocy leaving Faux. so somebody was in the spirit for April's fool day.

Found a cool Irish bar/grill near Penn Station, but there are so many in cool places in NY. Any idea what day you guys want to get together? Maybe Saturday, June 30th?

Blue,

When you say uptown, I'm about 3 hours "uptown" from NYC, and I'll be even farther away on the night of the 29th, since I'll be at a baseball game in Syracuse.

No problem though, I'm looking forward to saying hello, and possibly having a cup of tea. I just hope you guys don't meet so early that the time/space continuum shuts me out.

Also, the Yankees have some $5 seats at selected day games thanks to a Fuji Films promotion. I lucked into them by accident, but got rained out on the Yankees' second home date this year.

Hey, Ed!

Looking forward to it. Vanilla Birdies mentioned a tea shop on her blog, but I'm sure there are many.

Anyway, I think that all of the trains stop at Columbus Circle, including the express trains. That makes it impossible to get lost and maybe we can just pick a spot right there in the Time Warner building at whatever time is good for everyone.

One floor up from street level, they have a couple of big chairs (I think those are the "husband chairs" where men go while their wives shop) in an area that overlooks the circle. Very pretty view.

Anyway, all ideas welcome.

I am up for anything, I think it's a great idea.

Now is it June 30th for sure?

VB - That works for me and Ed is planning to come down from upstate, so I hope that's OK w/you and Brian. (Brian said to e-mail him a week before; guess he's not an over-planner like I am.) Does that work for you? Wonder if Rob will show up?

Looking forward to it!

Ed - Check out Pinstripes in the Park at MLB.COM. Yankees/Blue Jays in Bryant Park on 5/30 from 5:30 - 11pm (first pitch 7:05pm) --free admission for lawn seating, but televised on Yes Network if you have it.

Hey Blue,

Rob didn't actually know about it when I mentioned it but he did seem very interested and said he'd get in touch with you.

Everything works for me, and Columbus Circle does seem like it would be easiest.

So we'll just figure out a good time for everyone, and it's all set for the meantime :)

What time do you guys want to meet at Columbus Circle? Is there anyplace you want to go from there?

I will be offline after Wednesday the 27th, so I need to know what time to show up before then, please.

Blogger vanillabirdies said...

Hmm, one..two?

And as for place? We'll be in Columbus Circle but do we want to stay there?

I'm a coffee/cafe girl. If there's a cafe around I know it. But as for restaurants I'm often in the dark.

I'm sure everything will be figured out before the 27th. And where exactly in Columbus Circle...and WHO are we looking for.

Hold a sign!!!!! ;)

EdVB is coming in from out of town, so I can be there earlier to meet up with him if necessary.

I will be the one loitering on the first floor (one floor up from street level) with the robin's egg blue shoulder bag.

Wherever you guys want to go is fine with me.

Blue,

I tried to post a message here a few days ago, but it looks like it was lost. The best time for me is 11:30 AM or later. If someone wants to email a cell phone number to call that day, I'm jojovanb27 at hotmail dot com

I only know of one quiet (could actually hear each other) diner in the area (67th & Amsterdam) and I can only vouch for the coffee. Hope you locals know of a place where we can hang out & chat. Isn't there a little coffee shop at Lincoln Center?

Blogger vanillabirdies said...

Okay see you at one on saturday :)

We'll figure out a good place to go once we're all there.

So is it agreed, the coffee shop at 67th and Amsterdam @ 1? Should we all wear a read rose in our lapels?

11:01 PM
Blogger blueINdallas said...

No, Brian. It's Columbus Circle at 1pm - 1st floor (1 floor up from street level) -- I have a robin's egg blue messenger bag.

Think I'll e-mail everyone individually to make sure we're all on the same page.

See you guys soon!

Blue,

I'm so sorry I couldn't be with you guys on Saturday, but I'm also thankful I was able to be with my friends in their time of grief.

I'm glad I got to say hello, even though there wasn't much to do other than just say hi. I was truly looking forward to engaging the group in discussions similar to those we share through Craig.

I hope your trip was pleasant and will talk to you again through Craig, or wherever.

Regards,
EdVB
